In Baz Luhrmann’s glittering jukebox musical film, starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, we follow a grand romance set in 1900 Paris. In a masterstroke, their story is soundtracked by modern pop hits, from Elton John and David Bowie to Madonna and The Police. It brings a historic tale bang up to date.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical has become a lavish West End stage hit, inviting audiences into the famous nightclub to witness its star turn, Satine, fall in love with an aspiring artist and member of a bohemian group, Christian. She juggles the attentions of a wealthy but possessive patron, the Duke, on advice from club owner Harold Zidler.
The dramatic stage musical, which won 10 Tony Awards, recreates the most memorable songs and sequences from the film, including Lady Marmalade and El Tango de Roxanne. It also introduces exciting new songs, such as an epic medley featuring Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. It’s passionate, it’s naughty, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s simply spectacular!
